Description

A genogram includes information about relationships and interactions between family members. Creating this in the first 3 sessions helps clinicians understand how a client is recycling their past in the present. It can highlight the pattern of emotional and sexual problems that’s at the root of those individual and couples problems. By creating this early in the therapeutic relationships, therapists will be armed with the information necessary to help assess the themes in the problems today and how they relate to ones past family of origin issues. In this course we will do a live genogram to walk through the process and how to use it to effectively help your clients.
A. List sexual and gender messages stemming from childhood from family.
B. Identify cultural and religious teachings that impact a clients sexual and relational lives.
C. Assess for abuse and neglect and how that relates to current sexual and emotional issues.
