My article on Weiner not being a "sex addict" on Psychology Today was put at the top for essential read!
It was an important article for me to write because immediately people jump to that conclusion and over-pathologize what he did.
It is so irresponsible and adds to the problems we see in our offices where someone comes in either self-diagnosed just from reading these media-driven simplistic ways someone is diagnosed with "sex addiction"--a diagnosis that doesn't exist in any formal way.
Yes he has a problem. We need to slow down and keys a trained therapist in human sexuality assess each person with out-of control sexual behaviors before labeling them.
